Rethink : Reframe : Reconnect First 100: 3R’s

The 21st century has gifted us a complex environment, dominated by a flux of unprecedented threats and challenges.  The challenges are here to stay, but we can eradicate the threat through discipline, focus, reasoning and engagement.

Traditional models of leadership, change and transformation assume that our sense-making capabilities have evolved along with our advances in technology and other signs of civilisation.

The pandemic has exposed this assumption.

We’re not as evolved as we like to believe. We need the same collaborative sense-making skills that our ancestors did. Qualities such as trust, meaningful consensus, the integrity and accessibility of information, wisdom, comparability of information and data all underpin our ability to make sense of and engage with our world in a meaningful way.*

If we can reframe our thinking, shift the lens and perception to bring a complex situation into focus, we’ll all better understand the situation, what is sitting on the periphery and where attention should be focused. We can then take effective action in response to modern, complex problems.
